"Expeditions" almost full
More than half the available slots have been reserved already for
this year’s "Phil A. Voyd Expeditions 2000" Summer Camp
Adventures, and the rest are filling up quickly, according to Mike
Standifer, director of the Florida Conference Council on Ministries’
Youth and Events ministry office.
The camping ministry offers nine weekly camp sessions beginning
June 5 and ending August 5. High school Group Week is July 17-22. The
expedition theme will give campers an encounter with "real-life
survival challenges and obstacles," and will teach the skills and
knowledge youth need to "live each day for Christ,"
according to the camp brochure.
The ministry’s children’s camp is for rising fourth- and
fifth-graders. The middle school youth camp is for sixth- through
eighth-grade students, and high school youth camp is for ninth-
through 12th-grade students. In addition, there are four specialty
camps: Environmental Camp, Creative Spirit Camp, Water Sports Camp and
Camp Pioneer for developmentally and mentally challenged persons age
16 and up.
The cost is $227 per person for regular camp and $247 for the
specialty camps. Registration is first-come, first-served.
For more information, contact Standifer at 1-800-282-8011,
