Floridians elected to boards

LAKELAND — In the Aug. 4 edition of the Florida United Methodist Review, a list of Florida Conference representatives elected to denominational boards at the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference in July was printed. That list was incomplete. The staff of the "Review" regrets any inconvenience caused by this error.

The Rev. Jim Harnish, pastor of Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, was elected to a second term on the General Board of Discipleship. The Rev. Dr. Keith Ewing, administrative assistant to Bishop Cornelius L. Henderson, was elected the General Board of Health and Pensions at the 2000 General Conference in Cleveland, an election that was announced at Jurisdictional Conference. The Rev. Geraldine McClellan, superintendent of the Gainesville District, was elected to the General Commission on United Methodist Men. Mary Melvin, a lay person from Tampa, and Nelida Morales, the Miami District lay leader, were elected by the General Commission on United Methodist Women to the General Board of Global Ministries.

Daniel Acevedo, a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Coral, was elected as a youth representative to the Southeastern Jurisdiction Administrative Council. Frank Furman, a member of First United Methodist Church, Pompano Beach, and Yolanda Macon, a member of Beach United Methodist Church in Jacksonville Beach, were elected as the Florida Conference’s representatives to the Southeastern Jurisdiction Administrative Council. Jack Inman, a member of First United Methodist Church, Orlando, was elected to the governing board of the National Council of Churches of Christ.
