Bishop announces appointment changes

LAKELAND — Bishop J. Lloyd Knox announced the following mid-year appointment changes, effective Jan. 1:

  • the Rev. Peter Whittier, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Palmetto, retired;
  •  the Rev. Rafael Vigil, pastor of Druid Hills United Methodist Church in Ocala, is appointed to First United Methodist Church, Palmetto;
  • Druid Hills United Methodist Church in Ocala is to be supplied;
  • the Rev. Kirk Dreiser, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Plant City, is appointed to Christ United Methodist Church, Lakeland;
  • the Rev. Gary Brady is appointed to Trinity United Methodist Church in Plant City by provision of ¶337.2 of the Book of Discipline;
  • the Rev. Sarg Magyar, pastor of Riverside United Methodist Church in Miami, transferred to the Desert Southwest Conference;
  • Riverside United Methodist Church in Miami is to be supplied;
  • O’Neill Shenton, retired supply pastor, is appointed to Sopchoppy and Ochlocknee Bay United Methodist Churches in Sopchoppy;
  • Wade Irish, student supply pastor, is appointed to Springhead United Methodist Church in Plant City;
  • Ross Geiger, retired supply pastor, is appointed to Forest Hills United Methodist Church in DeLand.

Counselor considered for Counseling Network

Robin C. Campbell, LCSW of Cedar Key, is being considered for inclusion in the Florida Conference Counseling Network. Anyone with concerns regarding the person’s skills or character, making such action inappropriate, should write to the Rev. Leslie M. Avchin, Chair, 2900 John Anderson Drive, Ormond Beach, FL 32176, or Mrs. Jean J. Vanderslice, Coordinator, 6527 Forestwood Drive West, Lakeland, FL 33811, within 30 days of the publication of this notice.

All counselors are licensed by the state of Florida with the exception of pastoral counselors, who must be certified by the AAPC. The Conference Counseling Network Committee endeavors to find the most highly qualified people for inclusion.
