Counseling network offers
consultation training The Florida Conference Counseling Network presents Effective
Consultation: Working with Congregations, Church Leaders, Ministers and Clergy
Families Sept 13-14 in Orlando.
Dr. Pete Steinke, a national leader and innovator in providing
consultation to churches, will lead the continuing education event. Steinkes latest
book, Healthy Congregations: A Systems Approach, was published in 1996
by the Alban Institute.
Steinke will address understanding the congregation as an emotional
system, working with anxiety in emotional systems as they confront change and growth, and
special issues in counseling with clergy and clergy families.
The workshop is designed for network counselors, network committee
members, professional clinicians and interested clergy. Participants will receive 10 CEUs.

The Florida Conference Counseling Network provides professional
counseling for United Methodist clergy, their families, and lay employees and their
families within the Florida Conference. The network includes licensed therapists and
certified pastoral counselors throughout the conference. Therapists meet strict criteria
for admission.
Foundation offers low-cost student loans
Full-time students attending a junior or senior college, university,
seminary or other institution for educational or occupational training beyond the
high-school level are eligible to apply for student loans with 5 percent interest through
the Campbell Trust Student Loan Program.
Full-time students pursuing a degree or certificate in Christian
education, including pastoral ministry, as well as Christian education directors, children
and youth counselors, teachers, youth coordinators, and children and youth directors
associated with Christian schools, local after-school programs or camping ministries are
eligible for a similar loan from the Hilburn Prine Student Loan Program.
Both programs are administered by the Florida United Methodist
Foundation. The amount of the loan granted will be dependent upon the funds available
and number of approved applicants. Interest on the loans does not start accruing until
after graduation or withdrawal from full-time status.
