MELBOURNE - Michaela Etter (center) was one of more than 100 children who raised $289.13 for the Bishop Cornelius L. and Dorothye Henderson Secondary School in Mozambique, Africa.

"The Gold Rush" was the theme of vacation Bible school at Melbourne's Asbury United Methodist Church June 25-29. Instead of children rushing to take gold out of the man-made creek, they brought pennies to throw into it.

"We wanted our mission project to reflect giving to other children, therefore we selected the...Secondary School," church member Teri Barenborg said. "...one father thought it was such a great idea that he brought in a water jug filled with 80 pounds of pennies for all the children to have fun with.".
