Conference offers
change seminar
The Rev. Dr. Gil Rendle, a United
Methodist elder and director of consulting and education at the Alban
Institute, will lead three seminars in the Florida Conference designed
to help clergy and laity manage the dynamics and challenges of
congregational change.
The “Less
Pain More Gain” workshops will be held Oct. 19 at Orange Park
United Methodist Church, Jacksonville; Oct. 20 at Riviera United
Methodist Church, St.4 Petersburg; and Oct. 21 at Christ Church United
Methodist, Ft. Lauderdale.
The workshop will explore ways members
of a Christian community think about leadership and decision making
during times of disagreement. Participants will explore cultural
reasons for the diversity of opinions in congregations, the
responsibility of the Christian community to set the standard of
behavior, and ways to reset behavior to reflect Christian values.
The cost is $20 per person for the
first two people attending from a church and $15 dollars for each
additional person. Lunch is $5 per person. For more information,
contact Carol Sue Hutchinson at 1-800-282-8011, extension 140, or CHutchinson@flumc.org,
