Academy offers five days of
spiritual growth
Florida’s Five-Day Academy for Spiritual Formation is March 3-8
at the Life Enrichment Center in Leesburg. It is sponsored by the
Upper Room and the Florida Conference’s Discipleship Ministries
office and is open to laity and clergy of all denominations.
The Academy is designed as a time to participate in disciplined and
intentional spiritual growth.
Hazelyn McComas, a laywoman from Wisconsin and former faculty
member of Milwaukee Theological Institute, will teach “A
Spirituality of the Psalms.” Dr. M. Robert Mulholland Jr., chief
academic officer at Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky, will
teach “The Role of Scripture in Spiritual Formation.”

Board seeks ethnic young adults for internships
The General Board of Church and Society is seeking applicants
between the ages of 18 and 22 for the Ethnic Youth Adult Summer 2002
Internship Program. The eight-week internship begins June 1 and ends
July 27. Interns receive airfare to and accommodations in Washington,
D.C., and a $1,500 stipend.
Ten United Methodist young adults representing ethnic caucuses of
the church will be selected. Candidates must demonstrate leadership
skills in faith-based social justice work and be involved in their
local church.

The Florida Conference Council on Ministries (CCOM) is asking clergy
and laity to complete the “Florida
Conference†Training, Equipping and Resourcing Survey”
at http://www.flumc.org/000ter/TerSurvey.asp. Feedback received will
help the CCOM better understand the conference’s training needs and
coordinate opportunities to meet those needs.
Leaders and teachers looking for a resource dealing theologically with
the problem of evil can purchase “Good
Lord, Deliver Us: The Praise of God and the Problem of Evil”
by Dr. Rowan Crews. It retails for $14.95 through Cokesbury.
Pastors and laity can learn how to Equip
the Laity to Lead at
Anona United Methodist Church in Largo Jan. 24-25. The seminar is part
of the Conference Council on Ministries’ The Exchange Leadership
