Bishop announces January appointments

LAKELAND — Florida Bishop Timothy W. Whitaker announced new appointments effective Jan. 1, 2002.

The Rev. Kipton B. Younger is appointed pastor of First United Methodist Church, Inverness, succeeding the Rev. Max Wilkins who is withdrawing from the ministry of the United Methodist Church to unite with another denomination.

The Rev. Deborah C. Galtere is appointed pastor of Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, succeeding the Rev. Kipton B. Younger.

Catherine H. Williams is appointed supply pastor of Palm Springs United Methodist Church, Hialeah, succeeding the Rev. Deborah Galtere.

The Rev. Walter E. Monroe Jr. is appointed pastor of University United Methodist Church, Gainesville, succeeding the Rev. William H. Yeager who is retiring.

The Rev. James C. Isaacson, pastor at Grace United Methodist Church, Wabasso, in the Melbourne District, is appointed to Grace United Methodist Church, Orlando.

The Rev. Cameron J. Lashbrook, associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, Ocala, is appointed to Tampa’s Oak Grove United Methodist Church, succeeding the Rev. Larry E. Cook, interim pastor.†There will be no appointment made to the associate position at Ocala at this time.

Diane Gutierrez, a candidate for ordained ministry, is appointed supply pastor at Woodlands United Methodist Church, Tamarac, in the West Palm Beach district, succeeding the Rev. Margaret H. Smart who retired effective Dec. 31.

The Rev. Matthew W. Wallis, pastor of the Altoona-Paisley charge in the Leesburg District, is appointed associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, Eustis, in the Leesburg District.†

The Rev. Mason Dorsey, associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, Jupiter, in the West Palm Beach District, is appointed to the Altoona-Paisley charge in the Leesburg District. First United Methodist Church, Jupiter, is discontinuing the associate position.
