Conference Table gathers in August
LAKELAND — The Florida Conference’s
Conference Table will gather for the first time Aug. 28-29 at the Life
Enrichment Center in Leesburg. The gathering begins with worship and
team building Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to end in the
late afternoon Thursday. All Florida Conference clergy and laity are
invited to attend.
The Conference Table was approved at this year’s
Florida Annual Conference Event as a place where clergy and laity
throughout the conference can gather to discuss and discern matters of
strategic importance to the conference. Bishop Timothy W. Whitaker is
the Table’s chairman. Gatherings will be held throughout the
conference.
The primary topic for reflection at the
gathering will be the vision and mission for how Florida United
Methodists relate to each other through local churches and beyond,
according to Bill Walker, director of connectional ministries. “This
conversation is expected to probe deeply into our connectional life at
present and the possibilities that might lie from a fresh perspective,”
he said.
That discussion will begin Thursday morning.
Lodging is available at the Life Enrichment
Center for $23.50 per person per night, double occupancy, or $32.00
per person per night, single occupancy. A complete meal package is
also available for $21.00. For more information contact the LEC front
desk at DThornton@flumc.org
