Institute offers program in spiritual direction

Anyone interested in being a spiritual director and helping others deepen their spiritual walk is invited to participate in the Formation Program in Spiritual Formation, a joint effort between the Florida Conference and the Institute for Christian Studies of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida.

The ecumenical program focuses on ancient Christian spiritual traditions and support for spiritual guidance in today’s world.

The two-year program includes study and practical experience. Contact the Ven. Linda J. Brondsted, dean of the Institute, at 1-800-299-3567 or 407-423-3567.

FaithQuest holds Florida training

FaithQuest, a program for developing and strengthening congregational leaders, is holding a series of training events in the Florida Conference. The four one-day events will be held Sept. 28 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando; Oct. 5 at Grace United Methodist Church in Venice; Oct. 12 at First United Methodist Church, Lake City; and Oct. 26 at Rader Memorial United Methodist Church in Miami.

FaithQuest is a partnership between the Florida Conference and the General Board of Discipleship (GBOD). Local churches that decide to become FaithQuest congregations begin by sending a team of two or more to a training event. Lay and clergy leaders then partner together in Bible study, reflection and discussion about being the church in today’s every-changing world.

The cost is $165 for the first two participants from any one church and $85 for each additional person. Contact Betsey Heavner or Joan Newell with GBOD at 1-877-899-2780, extensions 7295 and 7075, respectively, or visit http://www.gbod.org/quest/faithquest.html

Proceeds from the musical will help fund campus-wide student ministries by the Chaplain’s and Church Relations offices.
