IN BRIEF

Conference unveils new logo

LAKELAND — The Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church unveiled its new logo at the 2002 Florida Annual Conference Event and is now making the image available for use by United Methodist churches, ministries and agencies.

The logo prominently features the United Methodist cross and flame and includes the words “The Florida Conference” with a series of waves.

Ron Pecora, chairman of the Florida Conference Council on Ministries’ communications ministry team, said the logo serves two purposes. “It helps define who we are geographically, while maintaining our overall connection as [United] Methodists,” he said. “When you see the cross and flame applied to Florida…you know immediately that it’s United Methodism in Florida.”

Pecora is a member of First United Methodist Church, Winter Park, and president of Pecora & Guitar Inc., a marketing consulting and corporate communications firm in Winter Park.

The logo can be used by any Florida Conference church, mission, ministry or agency on church Web sites, letterhead, newsletters, bulletins and business cards. It may also be used on publicity material, including signs, banners, fliers, brochures, videos and PowerPoint presentations.

The logo is available for download on the conference’s Web site at http://www.flumc.org. The site also includes logo usage guidelines and application suggestions.
