Florida
ministers receive national honor
LAKELAND — Two Florida Conference music
ministers received Awards of Merit in the 2002 Ministry of Music
Awards program conducted by the National Religious Music Week
Alliance. The awards were announced during National Religious Music
Week Sept. 22-28.
Wesley John Schumacher, minister of music at
Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church in the Sarasota District, and
Sue Bond, minister of music at First United Methodist Church, Hudson,
were two of 10 award recipients.
The merit awards honor “outstanding religious
music directors in all places of worship, large and small, for their
talent and their leadership,” according to the Alliance’s Web
site.
The National Religious Music Week Alliance was
founded in 1995 with the principal goals of supporting and enhancing
the music program in all places of worship and to encourage and give
thanks to the men and women who provide music for their congregations.
