Seminary offers program for future
leaders
Salt ‘n Light Ministry and Wesley Theological
Seminary invite youth who want to be leaders for Christ to attend “Word
& Witness” March 15, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The event includes speakers, group seminars,
worship and music. It is for 9th- through 12th graders and youth
workers.
The cost is $30 before Feb. 15 and $40
thereafter. Space is limited to the first 150 participants. Contact

Musicians invited to retreat
Church musicians are invited to Nashville Feb.
20-23 for a retreat sponsored by the General Board of Discipleship and
the Scarritt-Bennett Center.
The event provides spiritual renewal and
formation, rest, and relaxation for music and choir directors,
organists, pianists, praise team leaders or members, and children’s
and youth music leaders.
The cost is $295 and includes a room at Scarritt-Bennett

Parrish Center trains parish nurses
The Parrish Medical Center’s education
department presents the 7th Congregation Nurse Workshop Jan. 22, 8
a.m. to 4 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, Titusville.
The program prepares registered nurses to serve
in their faith communities as congregation/parish nurses. It provides
information on all aspects of this medical specialty and includes
lecture, discussion, role-playing, video, and written tools and
materials.

Communications group provides
newsletter help
A free newsletter developed by United Methodist
Communications will give local churches a new way to reach their
members.
The “News in Pews” newsletter is provided by
e-mail as a template that can be filled with church news and sent out
electronically or by mail to members. The template includes space for
a pastor’s message, local church calendar, prayer concerns, feature
stories and other content. It also offers news from United Methodist
News Service.

General Board seeks ethnic young adults
The General Board of Church and Society (GBCS)
is seeking 10 ethnic young adults for summer internships related to
the United Methodist Church’s social advocacy and action efforts.
The eight-week program offers the chance to work in public policy and
social justice organizations.
Applications are being accepted from people ages
18 to 22, representing the denomination’s five ethnic caucuses:
African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American and Pacific
Islander.
Each internship is June 1 to July 27 and
includes travel to and from Washington, D.C., housing and a $1,500
stipend.

Epworth by the Sea Methodist Conference Center is offering its Epworth
Elderhostel Singers choral music workshop Feb. 16-21 in St. Simons
Island, Ga. Participants create an ensemble that explores four-part
scores, including classical favorites and patriotic numbers. Contact

The annual Florida Christian Ashram is Feb. 24-27 at the Life
Enrichment Center in Leesburg. Bishop Richard Looney, director of the
Foundation for Evangelism, is the featured evangelist; Dr. Evelyn
Laycock is the Bible teacher; and the Rev. Marty Martinson, chaplain
of Give Kids the World, will lead the church-in-action sessions. The
cost is $200, single occupancy. There are special rates for ministers,
