Celebrate Jesus offers first in series of training events

Celebrate Jesus is adding a new dimension to its ministry of helping transform churches. March 21 kicks off the first in a series of training seminars that are part of the ministry’s vision to “awaken and equip” churches, according to Karen Taylor, the ministry’s executive director.

The “Leading Your Congregation Toward Spiritual Formation” seminar will be held at Asbury Theological Seminary-Orlando, 9 a.m.-noon, and led by Dr. Steve Harper, the Orlando campus president.

“The seminar will look at the strategies and structure that give shape to a congregational ministry of spiritual formation,” Harper said. “We will give particular attention to the development of spiritual leaders, who establish the core for a local church’s formation experience.”

Taylor says she hopes the session will offer clergy and church leaders ways they can help their churches see the need for “approaching ministry and worship differently, and then to offer creative ways to begin the journey…”

“The buzz word in the Florida United Methodist churches these days is ‘transformation,’ ” Taylor said. “It is scary to most congregations and to some pastors. Though most may agree there are changes to be made, how to go about making the changes is the big question.”

Register for the March 21 session by calling the Celebrate Jesus office at 407-893-7305. There is no charge for the seminar.
