Registration
for health screenings begins
Delegates to the 2003 Florida Annual Conference Event are
encouraged to preregister for three of the health screenings
being offered at the annual event’s Health Fair May 29-30.
The fair is sponsored by The Florida Annual Conference, Parish
Nurses of the United Methodist Church, Conference Council on
Ministries’ Health and Wholeness Ministry Team and the Board of
Pensions and Health Benefits of the United Methodist Church.
CAT SCAN 2000 will
provide a heart, lung and abdominal-pelvic scan. Call 877-828-7475 for

FIRST LINK MEDICAL
will offer blood testing for complete profiles, diabetes, hepatitis(A,
B and C), allergies, rheumatoid arthritis, estrogen levels, and
diseases affecting the prostate, thyroid, heart, liver, ovaries and

LIFE LINE SCREENING
will offer ultrasound screenings for detection of stroke, abdominal
aortic aneurysm, peripheral artery disease and osteoporosis. Call
800-407-4557 for information, COST and to register.
Blood Net Blood Bank will also offer free cholesterol screenings
and a t-shirt to anyone who donates blood. Cholesterol test results
will be sent to participants.
Screenings will be offered May 29, 8 a.m. to 7p.m., and May 30,
8 a.m. to 3p.m., in the ministry expo area located in the exhibit
hall of the Lakeland Center. Screenings will also be offered in
health provider vans parked at the rear of the Lakeland Center.

Commission recognizes ministers’ anniversaries
The Commission on Archives and History will recognize ministers
celebrating significant anniversaries of ordination and consecration
at the 2003 Florida Annual Conference Event May 27-31.

Methodists worldwide celebrate Wesley’s birth
Florida United Methodists are urged to join Methodists throughout
the world in celebrating the tercentenary of the birth of John Wesley
in Epworth, England, June 17, 1703.
Local churches can find Wesley Tercentennial resources, including
articles, worship and music resources, and preaching suggestions at http://www.gcah.org.
The 2003 Florida Annual Conference Event will highlight the 300th
anniversary of Wesley’s birth with special programs and displays.
The Fifth Historical Convocation of the United Methodist Church Aug.
14-17 at Drew University in Madison, N.J., will also celebrate the
Wesley anniversary.
