Men to recognize outstanding young people

The Commission on United Methodist Men is recognizing young people for their personal and selfless contributions to others. The commission will award $500 in each of the United Methodist Church’s five United States jurisdictions, subject to a minimum of 100 nominees in each jurisdiction.

To qualify, a person must be between the ages of 12 and 19 and must have received a Good Samaritan Award, a United Methodist award begun in 2000 to recognize young people who represent the attributes of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37.

To receive the award, youth must be nominated by an adult not related to them. The nomination must be supported by the pastor or president of the local church unit of the United Methodist Men.
