IN BRIEF

Office trains coaches for transformation process

LAKELAND — The Florida Conference Office of Congregational Transformation is offering its first training event for coaches in the transformation process July 10-12 at the Life Enrichment Center in Leesburg. The second part of the training will take place Oct. 3-4, though no location has been selected for that event.

The Rev. Kendall Taylor said he is looking for people with the gifts and personal skills to be good coaches. “Not all who ask will be accepted,” he said, adding the class is limited to 50 people.

Dr. David Wetzler of Natural Church Development will lead the training. Natural Church Development is the source for the eight characteristics of a healthy church the Office of Congregational Transformation is proposing as a standard for Florida Conference churches.

The application process is informal, according to Taylor. Laity and clergy who are interested should contact Taylor by phone or e-mail to get more information about the training. Taylor can be reached at KTaylor@flumc.org or 1-800-282-8011, extension 109.

The cost is $300 per person and includes materials, lodging and food.
