Camp-A-Long heads to Mississippi

Campers are invited to spend 12 days traveling through the Mississippi Delta area with the Florida Conference’s Family Camping Committee.

The Mississippi Delta Camp-A-Long April 30-May 12 will leave from High Springs, Fla., and stop at Vicksburg Battlefield, Florawood River Plantation and other sites along the way.

Registration is $50; camping fees and travel expenses are the responsibility of participants. Register by Feb. 21. For more information, contact the Rev. Ed Wienrich at 941-747-1336.

Needs continue in North Carolina

“Look Mommy, a fish is in my room.” A young couple from Tarboro, N.C., awoke to hear their daughter say these words. The family lives seven miles from the river.

As another 6-year-old girl watched her parents view their flooded home, she said, “But we have each other.”

Because of North Carolina’s long-term recovery efforts, there is an urgent need for individuals or couples to provide volunteer management in several locations for two months or more. Interested persons should contact the Rev. Nick Elliott, Southeastern Jurisdiction United Methodist Volunteers In Mission, at 404-659-5060 or sejumvim@compuserve.com.

Construction materials and work teams are also needed. For current specific materials needed, contact Leland Heath at the Central Warehouse, 919-739-9167. Volunteer teams should call 1-800-849-4433, extension 312.
