Teleconference offers solutions
to violence by children

The increase of violence committed by children against children is the focus of a teleconference presented by the United Methodist Teleconference Connection May 18. The hour-and-a-half program is titled “Kids, Guns, Violence: How to Make a Difference!” and will begin at 8 p.m.

The panel discussion features Sarah Wilke, director of Wesley-Rankin Community Center, a program matching adult mentors with boys in need; Dr. Pamela L. Riley, executive director of the Center for Prevention of School Violence; and Jerel A. Eaglin, director of youth services for the National Crime Prevention Council. Panel members will discuss the nature of violence in our society, how to identify troubled kids and examples of non-violence programs that work.

A list of locations offering the teleconference is available from Mike Wacht in the Florida United Methodist Communications office at 1-800-282-8011, extension 126, or MWacht@flumc.org.
