Iva Connor Bennett died Oct. 17 in Woodville near Tallahassee at the age of 83. She was the widow of the Rev. William J. Bennett who pastored churches in the Tallahassee District.

The Rev. Frederick Earl Stinson Sr. died Jan. 25 at his home in Oldsmar. He was 76. A native of Atlanta, Stinson served as clergy in the Florida Conference for 38 years, pastoring churches in Orlando, Miami and Tampa. Donations in Stinson’s memory and in honor of his daughter Lisa may be made to UPARC (Upper Pinellas Association for Retarded Citizens), 1501 North Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL 33765.

Mrs. Charlotte R. Gisler, 84, of Lakeland died Jan. 27. She was the widow of the Rev. Robert Gisler, a member of the Florida Conference. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, P.O. Box 7129, Winter Haven, FL, 33883-7129.

The Rev. Carl R. Gay died March 9. Gay served the United Methodist Church for eight years prior to his retirement in 1995, pastoring Riverview United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, and Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Lake City. Donations in Gay’s memory may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children Home.

The Rev. Thomas D. Ryan Jr., 78, died March 18. Ryan served the Florida Conference for 27 years before his retirement in 1977. He was the first pastor at Orange Park United Methodist Church and served Inman Memorial and Lakeshore United Methodist Churches in Jacksonville. The family has requested donations be made to the Florida Conference, Lake Asbury Retreat Center, P.O. Box 3767, Lakeland, FL 33802.

Genie Valentine Jones, wife of Dr. Ken Jones, died of cancer March 26. Dr. Jones, a former member of the Florida Conference, retired June 1998 as pastor of First United Methodist Church, New Orleans. They resided in Safety Harbor, Fla.
