Nominees for conference groups up for vote at conference event

LAKELAND — Nominations for various Florida Conference committees, boards and agencies will be voted on during the Dare to Share Jesus 2000 Florida Annual Conference Event May 30-June 2 at the Lakeland Center in Lakeland.

Individuals who are approved may serve a maximum of eight years. Many will begin their terms of office Jan. 1, 2001.

Those being considered as nominees for membership on quadrennial and annual boards, agencies, commissions and committees of the Florida Conference are listed below and included on the Nomination Committee’s report to Florida Annual Conference Event delegates.

Africa University choir, mission kits highlight Annual Conference Event

The 20 students, 10 male and 10 female, who make up the Africa University Choir will be among the guests at the Dare to Share Jesus 2000 Florida Annual Conference Event May 30-June 2 in Lakeland and will perform at the event’s closing worship service Friday.

Delegates also have the chance to help local disaster victims and African school children through the Flood Bucket Challenge 2000 and Council of Bishops’ Initiative on Children and Poverty and Hope for the Children of Africa School Kit collection.  Full Story


Praise band from Cuba featured at Annual Conference, tours Florida

A special celebration at the Dare to Share Jesus 2000 Florida Annual Conference Event May 30-June 2 in Lakeland will honor the work of the Cuba Florida Covenant. The Cuba Florida Covenant Celebration Experience will feature a sermon by Cuban Bishop Ricardo Pereira and music by Cuba’s first praise and worship band, Monte de Sión (Mount Zion).  Full Story
