Event teaches outreach through health

The Health & Wholeness Ministry Team is sponsoring a one-day, conference-wide event titled "Tending His Sheep...Increasing Ministry Outreach Through Health & Spirituality" Jan. 27, 2001 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando.

Professionals in the health services community, clergy and lay leaders of health and wholeness ministries will lead 14 workshops on such topics as healing and deaf ministries, adult day care, grief counseling, substance abuse and recovery, and health services for the low-income population.

Several Florida Conference churches and organizations will present information to assist you in fulfilling your church’s ministries.

The cost is $35 per person and includes the program, a continental breakfast and lunch. The registration deadline is Jan. 15, 2001. Accommodations are available at group rates for Jan. 26-27 at the Days Inn/Lakeside in Orlando.

Contact hours for RNs and LPNs will be offered for some workshops.

Board offers hymnal supplement training

Music directors, organists, pianists, choir directors, worship team leaders and pastors are invited to a three-day event that will introduce and train them in the use of the new supplement to "The United Methodist Hymnal" titled "The Faith We Sing."

Workshops include designing creative and contemporary worship, Taizé and service music, Gospel and ethnic music, using the supplement with prayer and children, and integrating the supplement in worship.

Early registration must be postmarked by Nov. 15, and the cost is $125 per person, single registration, or $99 per person with multiple registrations from one church. Regular registrations are $145 and $115.
