Foundation calls annual meeting
    The Florida United Methodist Foundation Inc. will hold its annual meeting at 10:45 a.m. May 31, 2001, at the Lakeland Center in Lakeland. Lay and clergy members of the Florida Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church are members of this corporation.


Lay Ministry seeks nominees at event
    The Board of Lay Ministry needs to replace two members during the Dare to Share Jesus 2001 Florida Annual Conference Event May 29-June 1 in Lakeland, according to T. Terrell Sessums, the board's chairperson.
    The positions available are Young Adult and Women's Representatives. Nominations will be accepted from the floor of the Laity Session May 29 at 3 p.m. in the Youkey Auditorium.
    The Laity Session will also include presentations on church development and outreach ministries by Carol Conner and Joe Barker and scripture readings in four of the languages of the churches in the conference.


Journal order deadline set
    Orders for the 2001 Journal of the Florida Annual Conference need to be placed by June 8 to help the conference determine how many of the books to print and compact discs to create, according to the Rev. Carmen Arnett, conference secretary. The conference will print only the number ordered.
    Journal order forms are included with the Dare to Share Jesus 2001 Florida Annual Conference Event workbook and are available on the conference's Web site at http://www.flumc.org/conf2001.
    Printed versions of the Journal cost $16 each; the CD version is $15. Both versions will be mailed to recipients, although the mailing date has not yet been determined.
    Journals can also be ordered by sending a check or credit card information to Caryl Kelley, director of the Florida Conference Resource Center, at P.O. Box 3767, Lakeland, FL 33802, CKelley@flumc.org   or via fax at 863-680-1912.
    A limited number of the 2000 Journals will be available at the 2001 Annual Conference Event for $8 each, while supplies last.


Cokesbury opens store in Orlando
    A new Cokesbury bookstore will open in Orlando in mid-July. The new store will be located on Colonial Drive, east of downtown Orlando and near the Orlando Executive Airport. Cokesbury bookstores carry a full line of Christian resources.
