Conference responds to West Virginia
floods
The Florida Conference disaster response
ministry is asking Florida Conference churches to respond to recent
flooding in West Virginia.
Approximately 600 homes, 97 multilevel homes and
487 trailers were destroyed July 8 when heavy rains caused rivers to
swell.
The Florida Conference is sending a truckload of
precooked, ready-to-eat meals, health kits and cleaning supplies
immediately, according to Lisa Rhan, Florida Conference disaster
response coordinator.
A second truck will be sent in early September
with long-term relief items. All items should be new. Each district is
designating a drop-off location, and the deadline is Aug. 31.
Financial contributions can be sent to the
Florida Conference Treasurer and should be designated UMCOR Advance
#901670-1.
For information about donations, contact Rhan at
lisaxbird@aol.com or 386-454-7775. For information about your district
response, please contact your district disaster response coordinator.

Churches offer teamwork training
The Rev. Dr. John C. Maxwell, a Wesleyan pastor,
author and church leadership trainer, and the Rev. Bruce Wilkinson,
author of “The Prayer of Jabez,” will present a satellite seminar
on teamwork Sept. 15. First United Methodist Church, Umatilla, and
First United Methodist Church, Brandon, will serve as downlink
locations for the seminar.
“The TEAM Simulcast” will help participants
find opportunities to develop and apply their talents, learn the power
of teamwork and get excited about their place in their church. Two
contestants from the TV show “Survivor” will share lessons they
learned about teamwork.
Tickets are $55. The preregistration deadline is
Aug. 24. For more information, contact First United Methodist Church,
Umatilla, at 352-669-2741 or Sharon Kuebler at First United Methodist
Church, Brandon, at 813-689-4161.

fastest growing United Methodist churches in the denomination.
The cost is $20 per person or $15 per person
when three or more from the same church attend. The registration
