Children
invited to be "Totally Me!"
Children in the fourth or fifth grade are
invited to the “Totally Me!” Christian faith and human sexuality
weekend April 19-21 at the Warren W. Willis Camp in Leesburg.
The weekend gives children and a parent or
sponsoring adult an opportunity to build trust and communication as
they deal with topics of self-esteem, decision making and Christian
teaching on sexuality.
The cost is $75 per person. The registration

Workshops help
churches connect with older youth
Two workshops will help churches make or restore
connections with older youth. “Where Have All the Seniors Gone?”
is April 11, 6:30 p.m., at Orange Park United Methodist Church in
Orange Park, and April 13, 9:30 a.m., at Aloma United Methodist Church
in Winter Park.
Mike Ratliff, former youth minister at First
United Methodist Church, Kissimmee, and Trinity United Methodist
Church, Gainesville, will present information from his new book “Sacred
Bridges: Making Lasting Connections Between Older Youth and the
Church.”
The cost is $25 per person, which includes the

Retreat helps people
discern call
The “Is God Calling Me?” retreat April 26-28
at the Warren W. Willis Camp in Leesburg is designed to help people
discern God’s call into full-time Christian ministry and provide
information on Christian service.
The event is sponsored by the Florida Conference
Board of Ordained Ministry and is for those who feel God calling them
into the ministry. Workshops include music, children’s, youth and
campus ministries; missions; pastoral counseling; and second-career
ministries. The weekend will also include sessions on seminaries, the
ordination process and various orders of ministry.
The “Seminary Roundtable” gives participants
a chance to discuss education with representatives from theological
schools.
The cost for the weekend is $39. For more

Heritage Sunday
celebration focuses on Asia
United Methodist churches throughout the world
are asked to focus on Asia and the Pacific during this year’s
Heritage Sunday celebration April 28.
Heritage Sunday is the anniversary of the
uniting of the Methodist Church and Evangelical United Brethren Church
April 23, 1968. It is a time for the church to remember the past and
commit itself to continuing its mission and ministry.
The General Commission on Archives and History
has asked churches to focus on various themes over the past four
years. “The World is My Parish” cycle ends this year with the
focus on Asia and the Pacific.

Short Bites
The Revs. John and Terri Hill will teach Leading Change in a Local
Church” April 20 at Isle of Faith United Methodist Church in
Jacksonville. The seminar will focus on systems theory and how the
spiritual leader changes the local church. It is part of the “The
Exchange” series of leadership seminars. For more information,

Anyone
interested in learning how to start and lead a Christian Believer
Bible study is invited to attend a training event April 18-20 in
Orlando. Christian Believer is a study of the classical doctrines of

The
2002 Christian Council on Persons with Disabilities is April 19-21 at
the Holiday Inn Select near the Orlando Airport. The Council brings
together disability ministries from across the country to exchange
