Subscription service offers church Web site templates

The new "E-Ezekiel" subscription service, offered by United Methodist Communications in Nashville, Tenn., allows churches to create Web sites without relying on volunteers or a staff person with technical knowledge.

Churches have a choice of more than 250 formats, and content is added through a Web interface that operates like a word processor. Other than a computer and access to the Internet, no software or technical skills are required.

The service offers ready-made content to keep Web sites fresh and current. Daily United Methodist news headlines and Upper Room devotionals are two of many features available. Web sites may also offer event calendars, online discussion groups, polls and prayer requests, as well as other web-based menu items. It also offers five levels of service, allowing the church to pay only for what it needs.

Online workshop helps members share their faith

Witness is a 25-week small group study written by Ron Crandall and published by The General Board of Discipleship in cooperation with The Foundation for Evangelism that strives to create a culture of Christian witness.

A new online community will parallel and enrich the study by not only providing information about Witness, but also offering testimonials from participants, video clips, links, lesson plans and a discussion forum to share experiences.

The Web site is being developed by The Foundation for Evangelism in partnership with the Southeastern Jurisdictional (SEJ) Administrative Council Office of Communications to provide an online forum and community for participants, leaders and inquirers.

The community Web site will be part of The Evangelism Network, an online ministry intended to further the practice of evangelism and provide support for those involved with evangelism at local churches. The Evangelism Network will officially launch this fall.

Digital store provides music through the Internet

A new digital store allows customers to hear and buy United Methodist music selections any time through a home computer.

Digital Music@cokesbury.com,  launched by the United Methodist Publishing House, makes music available from several categories, including anthems, children’s songs, congregational hymns, hand-bell music and a variety of solo styles.

The digital store can provide musical selections that are relevant to current events. The technology allows music buyers to review music at their computer, print a score they like, and use it in rehearsal or worship the same day. Many selections contain customization options, such as key transposition. Customers can print purchased music on a home printer.
