Church of the Resurrection schedules fifth
annual Leadership Institute The United
Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, will hold its
fifth annual Leadership Institute Oct. 10 and 11. For the first time
there will also be a Pre-Institute option Oct. 9.
The three-day conference is designed to help mainline churches
strengthen the leadership of their clergy, laity, staff and
volunteers. The focus is to help churches renew their vitality and
relevancy.
The Rev. Adam Hamilton, senior pastor at the church; Dan Webster,
founder of Authentic Leadership; Jeff Kirby, minister of adult
discipleship at the church; and Carol Cartmill and Yvonne Gentile,
coauthors of “Serving from the Heart,” will present during the
Pre-Institute session.
The United Methodist Church of Resurrection is one of American’s
fastest-growing mainline churches with attendance of more than 6,000
each week.
The cost for the conference is $225 for the first participant and
$100 for the second participant from one church. The cost to attend
the Pre-Institute seminar is $29.

Lake Junaluska hosts first Academy of Global Song
The Academy of Global Song will hold its first conference Oct.
26-29 at Lake Junaluska in North Carolina.
The theme is “Sharing the Gifts of Creation and Culture.”
In addition to featuring songs from Central/South America and the
Caribbean, the conference will have plenary sessions, workshops and
group singing. It will also introduce a wide variety of global
repertory and liturgical resources.
The cost is $295, which includes all materials, three nights’
lodging and meals.
The Global Praise Program of the Mission Evangelism office of the
General Board of Global Ministries is sponsoring the Academy. The
Global Praise Program gathers Christian songs from around the world to
share them in accessible forms with local congregations, choir
directors, pastors and other worship leaders.
