Through guest speakers, small group discussions, question and answer sessions, and Bible study, youth will receive up-to-date information on how to deal with sexuality and dating in light of their faith. Les Christie, chairman of the youth ministry department at San Jose Christian College, will be the keynote speaker. Registration is by church groups, and one adult is required for every four youth of the same sex from each church. The cost is $80 per person; the deadline for registering is Feb. 5. Educators invited to hear the music Pastors and church program leaders are invited to explore how God is creating a composition with their lives at the Opus Days Christian Educators Fellowship (CEF) retreat Feb. 22-24 at the Life Enrichment Center in Leesburg. The retreats theme was inspired by the movie Mr. Hollands Opus, in which the lead character creates a musical masterpiece out of his personal struggles. The retreat is open to clergy and laity, regardless of CEF membership, and offers networking opportunities for people involved in ministry to children, youth and adults; Christian education; and performing arts. Trudy Rankin, a mental health counselor with experience in rehabilitation counseling and mission work, will lead the program. Ashram offers spiritual tune-up Its a vacation with the Lord, said registrar Karen Wenck about the Florida Christian Ashram spiritual retreat Feb. 22-25 at the Life Enrichment Center in Leesburg. Ashrams, from the Indian word meaning to be away from work, are Christ-centered international and interdenominational spiritual retreats that offer laity and clergy a wonderful time out when all you have to do is think about your life in Christ, said Tom Wenck, the retreats treasurer. Featured speakers include Florida Bishop Cornelius L. Henderson; Dr. Evelyn Laycock, director of the Lay Ministry Center at Lake Junaluska, NC; and the Rev. Jim Russo, founder of Jim Russo Prison Ministries. New this year is a time of dialog between participants and leaders. The cost is $165, single occupancy, or $141 per person, double occupancy, for laity. Clergy, missionaries and their spouses will receive a 20 percent discount. The registration deadline is Feb. 4.
