Purpose, passion keys to growing church
The Rev. Adam Hamilton, senior pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Kansas City, Mo., said the foundation of church growth is purpose and passion among the people.
Hamilton was at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Orlando, Feb. 8 for a seminar on how large churches become regional churches. The Rev. LAKELAND - Jake Walker got a chance last month to hang out with a few kids, a couple of lambs, a calf, a pony and a pair of piglets. The animals were at First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, Feb. 10 to help kick off the church's "Fill the Ark" campaign to benefit Heifer Project International. The campaign is sponsored by the children's Sunday school classes. The children learned about the Heifer Project and each kid received a bank and calendar they can use to raise money for the ministry.

Church growth is pastor's dream
Within the last year, Carlson United Methodist Church in LaBelle has grown by 50 percent, added a second worship service and increased its Sunday school attendance. It is now operating at almost 100 percent capacity.
The growth is the result of efforts begun two years ago to develop a plan to make disciples for Jesus Christ.
