The love Bishop Cornelius and Dorothye Henderson have extended to others in 44 years of
ministry was returned in "good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running
over" at a celebration April 25 at Ben Hill United Methodist Church here.
A crowd of 1,500 Ben Hill members, fellow
clergy, government leaders, United Methodist officials and ecumenical personalities
gathered to pay tribute to the Hendersons and present a love offering and two framed

Council
members approve new director
New Council director marks the first time a
lay person will hold the position.
He says he has lived his entire religious life in the Methodist Church,
attending a church in Metro Orlandos Winter Park area for 25 years and serving there
in many leadership roles. He has also served the conference for three years as chair-
person of the Conference Council on Ministries.
Now, hes taking his commitment to the United
Methodist Church one step further by becoming the first lay person to serve as director of
the CCOM.
Local Winter Park attorney William A. Walker II will
assume the position in June after the close of the Dare to Share
Jesus 1999 Florida Annual Conference Event June 1-5. Full Story |
Outreach
ministry helps kids deal with Littleton tragedy "Im one of them," said an
8th-grader attending the Belfry Recreation Center at First United Methodist Church,
Lakeland, to an adult volunteer after a Friday night candlelight memorial service for the
victims of last Aprils Columbine High School tragedy.
The boy explained that he had no friends, nobody liked him,
and he didnt know where he belonged; he felt just like one of the two boys accused
of killing 12 classmates in Littleton, Colorado.
"He was a nice looking kid, wouldnt stand out in
a crowd
an average looking kid," said Bob Douglass, the churchs youth
director.

New structure discussed at event
When Anna Gail Dixon Workman agreed to
be a member of the Connectional Process Team (CPT), she said she was "very
afraid." Her fear was that an in-depth look into the global structure and connection
of the United Methodist church would reveal an ugly side of the church that would cause
her to turn away from her lifelong denomination.
"My prayer was that I wanted to be a United Methodist
